For Immediate Release
INGLEWOOD, Calif./EWORLDWIRE/March 9, 2005 --- Entelechy is a non-governmental organization with
offices in the United States and Nigeria. The organization is committed to halting the spread of HIV and AIDS in
Africa. Entelechy's principal mission is to reduce sexual and mother-to-child transmission of HIV among youths
15-25. The organization accomplishes this through localized, educational outreach programs. Thegoal of the
programs is to inform and empower youths about the multitude of physical, social and mental health choices
they must make.
After Observing the HIV/AIDS prevention efforts of other organizations, Entelchy has seen a great need for an
endemic, consistent, multi-faceted presence. Other organizations have attempted to disseminate AIDS
awareness propaganda or distribute prevention and care services. They do not establish a lasting presence
among the people.Their efforts did not assimilate to the particular culture and environment of the populations
they served. These temporary outposts often leave before the villagers and townspeople learn to trust or rely
on their assistance.
Entelechy is extremely knowledgeable about the population they serve and plans to build a lasting presence
throughout Africa. This will provide counseling and educational programs that reach beyond the AIDS
epidemic. The programs will lead young people to develop a broad understanding of their health and well
being. By collaborating with a variety of trusted entities, such as churches, schools, health clinics and
universities, Entelechy Inc. will establish on-going youth centers. At the centers the organization's work wil take
root in the communities it serves.
Young people will be able to attend informational presentations, talk to health care workers and counselors,
obtain referrals for health services, receive guidance counseling for vocational and academic learning. They will
be treated to a myriad of AIDS and STD awareness tools. T-shirts, banners, songs, billboards and slogans
relating to their culture will aid in spreading the message.
Entelechy is aware of the social structures, myths, misinformation, fear and denial that have stood in the way of
AIDS prevention efforts. The organization's aim is toward debunking these social and cultural impediments.
The organization is attempting to accomplish this through a patient and consistent presence in the lives of
young Africans. Entelechy's work will generate profound change in the social mores that historically have
promoted the spread of AIDS. This will enable a drastic increase of the efficiency of the prevention efforts.
Entelechy Inc. is delighted to announce that the Conejo Valley and Camarrillo school districts of California have
donated computers, printers, copiers, film-projectors and more for the African HIV/AIDS awareness projects.
The organization is also seeking donations to refurbish, transport and distribute these materials to secondary
schools and libraries in rural Africa.
